So you just got your brand new OnePlus 6 and you’re not quite sure how to insert your carrier’s SIM card. Here’s how to access the card slot and installing your SIM card into the handset.
How to insert a SIM card into the OnePlus 6
- Take out the card slot with the included tool
- Align your card in the tray
- Carefully reinsert the tray
First, locate the SIM card tray on the left side of the handset. It will be just above the volume rocker alongside a small hole used to eject the tray. Next, remove the SIM card removal tool found in the OnePlus 6’s box alongside the device’s paperwork. Insert the removal tool’s long end into the microSD card tray’s ejector hole and press down firmly — the tray should pop out easily. Pull that out completely.

Now, you should find two different sized slots. Your SIM card will fit into the smaller of the two while the microSD card will go into the larger slot. Make sure to align this up correctly with the metallic side pointing towards the back of the handset.
You have to first of all open the hull OnePlus 6T. You must then take out the battery to reach the location of the SD card. You just have to insert the SD card or Mini SD or Micro SD and all go up. Carefully pick up the tray and slide it back into the OnePlus 6. Make sure that when you’re doing this that the printed side of each card is facing upward/towards you. After several seconds, the handset will recognize the SIM card and additional memory.

Follow these steps on how to insert your SIM card to your OnePlus 6:
- Prepare the SIM card, phone, and the SIM ejector tool.
- Familiarize yourself with the location of the SIM card tray. While looking at the screen of your phone, the SIM card tray should be on the left hand side of the phone. It’s above the volume button and has a tiny button.
- Now, use the SIM ejector tool that came with in the box to eject the SIM card tray make sure to push the tip of the SIM removal tool to the hole firmly.
- When the tray pops out, pull it out from the phone.
- You’ll notice that there will two slots in the tray. One is for your SIM card while the other is for a microSD card. Make sure to use the correct slot for your SIM card. Only a Nano-SIM card will fit into the SIM tray. If your SIM card is bigger, then get a Nano-SIM card first. The metallic contacts of SIM card should face downward.
- Once you’ve put the SIM card to the tray, carefully insert the tray back to the phone.
